To listen, click: Releasing Anxiety with EFT (10:26)

It can be quite easy to feel anxious these days.

I feel the dissonance in my energy field even when I don't read the news or watch TV anymore. I can feel the doom and gloom in my body, which is interesting for me  to notice. I know that these sorts of emotional discomfort are an invitation from Spirit to bring healing to parts of me that are still feeling anxious, and somehow still connected to a deep and unconscious limiting belief instead to my own deeper knowing of Well-Being. This is another beautiful opportunity to practice raising my vibration and re-aligning myself with my Spirit at a deeper level.

This understanding inspired me to create an EFT audio recording to help all of us gently release the feelings of fear, stress and anxiety from our body and allow ourselves to feel peaceful and at ease again. I hope you find it helpful.

If you are not familiar with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), you can find a brief introduction to this powerful self-healing technique in my "EFT Tapping Points" web page.

For more EFT audio recordings, click here.

I would love to hear how this particular EFT audio recording works for you. Please email me with your feedback (what works, and what doesn't) and let me know your success stories after listening to it. Thank you!

The Absolute Joy of Giving

(This article was first published in November 2007 Metta Center email newsletter.)

Yesterday, I was sitting outside in my garden. I closed my eyes for a moment, enjoying the sun and feeling the gentle wind on my face. I heard the hummingbird calls and the songs of robins. The air was perfumed with the late-blooming roses.

I decided to open my eyes, and invited my Inner Being to see the world with me.

I noticed that sun felt warmer. There was joy reflected on the leaves as the sunrays bounced off them. The air smelled so sweet. I felt so alive!

My heart was filled with warm, glowing feelings of joy and I loved it! I felt like jumping up and down like a kid for the sheer joy of being in love with life itself.

Then I heard, "It is from this place of abundance that you can truly give what you have."

I was reminded that joyful giving comes from a place of fullness, not lack. From a place filled with love, not fear. From a place of ease, not striving. From non-attachment, not from having expectations of getting something back in return. It is from these places of abundant well-being that inspired-giving fulfills both the giver and the receiver, and uplifts everyone involved.

How do you get to this feeling of joyful abundance? Appreciation of what is wonderful and beautiful both in you and outside of you is a powerful way to connect to this feeling. Make it a habit to bless all that you love in life. Spend time recognizing the abundance, peace and ease that you do have. Take time out for yourself to play. Be proud of yourself and honor your journey. Be gentle with yourself and others when you made mistakes. Practice finding goodness even in the most unlikely people, events or places.

May you have the opportunity to experience the joys of giving from your place of abundance.

Wishing you a soulful autumn and a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thank You, Universe, for...

the sun, gentle and warm on my skin
the soft wind that dances with the leaves and caresses my hair
the brilliant, sparkling colors I see
the blue skies of the morning, the white clouds, the turquoise sky with pink clouds at sunsets, the red trees and orange vines
the vibrant green grass in November, glistening under the sun
the beautiful and gentle woods with smells so sweet
the songs of birds reminding me to celebrate life
a life so filled with wonders and amazing gifts...

Thank You.

Divine Blessings

"The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious."
~ Albert Einstein

Several nights ago, I was out looking at the stars during my "blue time," the time in the early evening when the sun has just set and the world seems to be under water with blue hues everywhere. I love that time of the day, it feels magical and wondrous to me.

During that time, as I ran my fingers along the blueness as if I could touch its essence of gentleness, I felt and heard the blessings: "All this peace, beauty and love is for you, for your family and for the world, Christine." In that moment, I felt deeply connected to a such delicious source of contentedness and I found my body tingling in ease.

I said "I accept, I accept, I accept." It felt really good to allow and accept blessings. At that moment I remembered again that there is nothing but love, even if I sometimes forget.

I love opening up, tapping into and allowing myself to connect to the Divine in everyday things. It helps me honor and appreciate the magic and sacredness of life, which we are all part of. It feeds my soul and reminds me to focus on the joys in life. It is a source of courage, wisdom and kindness. When I am connected with my Divine Source, I always feel so soft and strong at the same time. It is a wonderful feeling!

May you accept your own blessings of wonder, peace, beauty and love! It is yours to claim.

The Lost Child Within

(This post was first published as an article in April 2008 Metta Center email newsletter.)

I was outside enjoying myself, reading a book that has captivated my heart and soul. The weather was beautiful, the garden was fragrant, my family was with me playing outside. All is well. I felt peaceful and complete.

Despite that slice-of-heaven moment, however, I noticed some quiet stirrings of unease and restlessness in my chest. I stopped my reading, and check inward with myself. I brought my attention to the sensations I felt on my chest, and gently waited for an inner response.

"I feel lost. I don't know what to do. I have no purpose," came the answer from within me. I was aware of a feeling of confusion that accompanied the restless energy. This answer came as a surprise to me because I was very clear about what my purpose was on that day. My purpose was to be in love with life, and I was doing it so well, I thought.

Because of my self-healing practice in working with inner-child and other aspects of self, I understood that the answer and the feelings came from another aspect of my being that was not in harmony yet with the greater me.

I asked this part, "How do you know you have no purpose?" And, I heard back, "I am used to doing things, I am used to having a purpose to fulfill. Now, I am just sitting and reading and in love with life. While this is fine and dandy to experience, it is all very disorienting to me."

I chuckled gently, hearing this answer. I held this part of me with kindness and lovingly shared my new understanding of what life-purpose meant to me now.

This part showed me our concept of purpose as a mission, a grand project, something one actively engaged in to be completed. It is in the completing of tasks that the mission is accomplished. I thanked this part for showing me this old concept I still held at some level of my being.

I explained to this part of me, as I used EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to tap along my meridian points, that I now had a more expanded view and understanding of my purpose. To me, my purpose now is to serve Life. Every morning, I check in with the Source within me, "How can I serve Your purpose today, Life?" And, that day, the answer was "Be in Love." In the past days, the answers had been, "Be Love," or "Be Joy," or "Appreciate,"  or "Bless Everything" or something like that and the answers were always given with the most exquisite feelings of blissful love.

In the confusions that this lost part of me felt as I relayed my expanded understanding of purpose, I also heard another voice from within that said, "I may feel lost, because I am no longer orienting my life in the ways I am used to. But, wait, I am not lost... I am found!"

I felt a great delight, like a coming home, exploding from within me. A deep powerful knowing arose from within me and said, "I am found! I am back in peace. I am home. And, I am my purpose! The purpose of my life is Me!" And, like a child in candy store, the great delight exploded out of me. My eyes must have twinkled then.

I knew then, without a doubt, that the new realization is true. My understanding of my purpose has just been expanded again: my purpose is Me -- Divinity in the flesh!  My purpose is to be the me as carried by the deeper blueprint within. My purpose is not a job, it is a realization.

And, I feel lost no more.

To those of you whom might be feeling lost and lonely, not knowing who you are or why you are here on Earth, perhaps I can pass on this wisdom: maybe the answer to your wondering about and wandering about is You!

May you marvel in the discovery of who you are and who you are becoming! You are worth looking for.

Happiness Right Now

(This post was first published as an article in September 2008 Metta Center email newsletter. While my daughter is now 15 years old, and not 11 years old as in this story, the message of this post is still relevant today. I invite you to turn your limiting thoughts around and free yourself into your happiness!)
One of the lessons I have learned is that happiness is an inside job.

Do you notice that things can be going really well, and yet you are still unhappy? Or, things might go all awry yet you are cool as a cucumber?

Something Abraham-Hicks says really struck a cord with me: "Your primary work is to think, speak and do what feels good to you." I really enjoy learning the process of choosing a better feeling thought from Abraham. Similar to changing a diet where you choose a healthier food to nourish your body, learning to think a better feeling thought is choosing to hold healthier thoughts, bringing yourself back into alignment with Source. It is choosing to nourish your mind, emotion and body with thoughts that affirms your connection to the amazing life, the Spirit, within you instead of diminishing it.

I put it in my daily practice that whenever I notice I am feeling unhappy, for whatever reason, I invite myself to explore what feels better for me to think, say or do. It is a simple process, and with practice, I can notice how much easier and quicker it is for me to align myself with feelings of contentment and joy.

For instance, I had this uncomfortable event a couple days ago where I talked to my 11-year old daughter about something that I thought would be of great help to her. But,she was not ready to hear it and brushed me off in a typical adolescence way. ("I am not listening!") Noticing that I felt frustrated, I made a mental note to find out what I would prefer to think, say or do that could feel better to me. After some time of reflection, I realized that I wanted to contribute to her life, and apparently my unconscious belief about how I should relate to my daughter was, "I need to teach and help my daughter in order to be of value to her." That thought didn't feel good at all, and I contemplated that this not-so-good feeling is an indicator that the thought was out of alignment with my Source. My Inner Being is telling me that there is a better way to think about relating to my daughter.

So, I decided to choose a better feeling thoughts: "It's not true that I need to teach and help her to be of value to her.  I really appreciate my powerful desire to contribute to her life and, I think I can be of value to her in many other ways that work better for both of us, and now that I am thinking about this, I rather like how it feels to me to remember that I am of value already no matter what." I felt immediate relief and a shift in my energy. My body sighed and I felt significantly more peaceful and free within.

As I focused on choosing more good-feeling thoughts, a single thought, attracted to me by nature of the Law of Attraction, powerfully took me to an even greater level of joy and relief: "I don't have to figure everything out and neither does she!" First, there was a hushed silence within, and then I felt waves of glorious and joyous freedom from within my whole being with that single liberating thought. I felt like whooping and jumping up and down, and I did!

I love the process because it concretely shows me that I absolutely have complete and total freedom to think whatever I want, to either uplift or depress myself and my life. I get to discover what thoughts and life-choices feel good to me. More importantly, I get to be in touch again with my own innate wisdom and to reconnect with what feels so good deep in my soul.

It is such a delicious feeling to feel happy for no reasons other than it feels so great to be alive!

The Rock, Stone and Sand Philosophy

(This post was first published in October 2008 Metta Center email newsletter. The original author of the story is unknown.)

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full?

They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was. The students laughed.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

"Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.

The sand is everything else, the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.

Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

Angel Healing Tip: Clearing Other People's Energy From Your Auric Space

In relationships, we often are operating on the assumption that the emotions we are feeling are our own. However, in many cases, the emotions you felt while engaging with another person are not yours but the other person's.

This is a shocking thing to discover for many people, and they are often totally unaware that emotions are shared among people. We are rarely aware of the origin of the emotion we are feeling. So much difficulty arises in relationships because we don't understand this fact. Imagine how you might be behaving because you are taking on someone else's anger as yours, for instance.

Fortunately, each one of us has a Divine Presence, our Higher Self, which will act on our behalf, and this part of us have a solution to help us maintain our energy system so that we can respond from a place of clarity.

To clear other's energy (thoughts and emotions) from your auric space as well as from your physical body, use the decree: "Divine Presence clear my energy space." You just need to say the statement. Breathe easily and deeply as you observe any shift and clearing that occurs.

If you are holding another person's energy, the Divine Presence will sweep all energy that doesn't register as "yours" out of your energy system. You will almost instantly be aware that you are no longer feeling what you were before. You may be engaged in the most intense emotion and yet, in an instant, you will feel calm and centered again. You may have to say this decree several times a day.

I often taught this technique to my clients who are sensitive to other's energy and suggested that they say this decree after they leave a store, or a crowded place, or when they find themselves in an argument, and these clients reported that they feel better and clearer. Some clients found their new space of clarity so helpful, that they were able to choose a different thought and action which resulted in a different outcome in life for them.

Miracles 'R' Us

(This article was first published in May 2007 Metta Center email newsletter. While the birds were long gone now, the message of the article still holds true in my heart today. I invite you to consider the miracle that YOU are!)

My family and I have been watching a bird making a nest on top of a beam under our eaves. We think it is the future mama bird that is making the nest. There is a red one (we think this is the papa bird) who is always nearby singing to her as she works.

It has been four days now since the birds started their nest, and we've seen how the nest is built piece by piece from blades of dried grass, small twigs, dried forget-me-nots. The colors are really lovely, a little baby blue from the flowers, green from the grass and soft greys from the twigs. (I wonder if the mama bird thought of color swatches as she builts her nest!)

When I see how much care she is putting into preparing and creating a home for the new lives that are coming, I feel very touched and in awe. So much love and honor for the miracle of life!

This makes me think how each of us, as individual lives, started from only two tiny cells. We are walking miracles, really, but we think nothing of it. What if we begin to recognize the miracles that we truly are instead of waiting for a "miracle" in our lives? What if we see ourselves as the miracles we are looking for? What if we could honor and cherish the miracles that we are?

Spring into Magic!

"Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself" ~ Zen Proverb

"Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems."
~ Rainer Maria Rilke

As I started my day this morning, I was spell-bound by the brilliant display of flowers all around my home. In the Bay Area, spring has definitely sprung!

Everywhere I looked, blossoms have burst in a profusion of colors: white, magenta, blue, purple, yellow, orange, red, and pink. Young grasses of verdant green dance in the soft breeze. Delicate new leaves are poking out of bare branches where they have slept through winter.

I am witnessing life in its full splendor and spring regalia. So glorious, indeed!

I invite you to allow yourself to get away from your desk, from the unfinished busy-ness in your day, and go out and greet spingtime with open arms and delighted eyes. Abandon your worries and obligations, and replace them with a sense of joy and ease, even for just a short time each day, and you will find that life greets you back with the same, if not more, delights!

Abandoning your worries for a while and focusing your attention on joy and beauty is not a denial of problems or duties. No, it is a graceful and gentle process of entraining your energy system to vibrate at the level of your Source where all solutions are present and healing is available.

Try this small and wonderful practice for several days, and you will be surprised how much room you are creating for inspiring changes to enter your life.

Wishing you well-being abound!

Being In Spirit

(This article was first published in April 2007 Metta Center email Newsletter.)

Yesterday, I walked past sunlit blades of grass. They smelled so fresh and wholesome as my legs brushed against their blades. I watched the wind run on top of the grass, swaying the tips so gently. The verdant green blades touched me deeply, awakening a sense of wonder and awe. It felt like I was drinking from a fountain of light.

I felt filled and full. I felt connected. It felt wonderful. How amazing it is to be in Spirit.

In his book "Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling," Dr. Wayne Dyer said, "Think of the word inspiration as meaning 'being in-Spirit.' When we're in-Spirit, we're inspired and when we're inspired, it's because we're back in-Spirit, fully awake to Spirit within us. Being inspired is an experience of joy: we feel completely connected to our Source and totally on purpose; our creative juices flow, and we bring exceptionally high energy to our daily life."

I invite you to give yourself permission to be with -- and in -- your awesome Divine Spirit.

Reinventing Self

A client of mine wanted to reinvent herself. I gave her some homework to start her process, and wanted to share the same assignment with you in case you are also in the mood to do a "self makeover."

To reinvent yourself, what I found work best is if you start from listening within to your soul's guidance. That guidance can appear in many ways:
  • Dreams
Two helpful articles: Dreams that Help Us Make Important Decisions (by Rosemary Ellen Guiley, Ph. D.) and Dreaming the Secret Wishes of the Soul (by Robert Moss)
  • Signs
Set the intention that you will receive guidance from the Universe about your reinvention project. Then, as you go about your day, begin to pay attention to the words that catch your eye (billboards, signs on trucks, bumper stickers, t-shirt logos, posters, etc.) and whatever catches your ear (words or songs you hear on the radio, conversations with others, etc.). Notice, too, what makes you feel joyous as you involve all your five senses in the world. Make a record of all these words, signs, and observations. Do this for a week and be playful about it.
  • Journal
Write down on a page: "At the end of my life, when I look back, I feel very proud and glad that I am/ I have/ I did:"
  • Meditate
Ask your soul to show you what you need to know about reinventing yourself, and what actions, if any, you can take now to support you in that direction.
When you have a clarity or insight about what or who you'd like to reinvent yourself to be, write one page called, "The reasons I want to reinvent myself." List all the reasons that make you feel happy when you think about your new self. This list will serve as a reminder of the compelling and powerful inspirations which have invited you to move to a new direction. Refer back to this list every now and then to re-inspire yourself. When doubts or fears arise, use your healing tools (breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, EFT, TAT, Reiki, Psych-K, etc.) to help you heal and move past the resistance to change.

Be appreciative of your clarity and honor yourself for having the courage to answer your soul's invitation to grow. If you find yourself feeling regretful or self-critical that you are not "that person" yet, be gentle with yourself and notice how self-forgiving may very well be an integral part of the self-reinvention project.
Love requires no practice.
Love is.
One cannot practice is-ness.
One can, however,
practice the decision to love.

~ Emmanuel
